    Default TI "Special Gnome Extra"

Anyone heard of a TI "Special Gnome Extra, pour barbed dures? Picked one up today at a flea market, about 7/8 maybe quarter hollow. Plastic scales so not super old, but vintage. Never heard of it but I'm excited about it.Name: 20181007_193255.jpg

I've heard of super gnomes, but I thought they were on the smaller side like 4/8 or 5/8 and were full hollow. I'm a fan of wider and less hollow so this is more up my alley.

    That's why it's called "extra".

The only TI Super Gnomes I could find were from here https://www.theinvisibleedge.co.uk/s...gnome-3-8.html . They are made from older blanks in a heavier grind and are not the modern steel alloy, I think. Yours, is a heavier grind being 1/4 hollow and going by the tang stamp is even older. When they were making them they likely produced more sizes too. Can't go far wrong with a vintage TI.

Nice razor! I don't speak french but from what i gather "pour barbes dures" means something like "for hard beards".

Gome was one of TI older trademarks. They were marketed toward the hairdresser and barber. They were not fancy i.e., filework, scales, goldwash etc. They were available from 2/8 to 6/8 in 1/2 hollow and round nose only
