There's also a database of razors buried in the Library. The goal of the project was to have an example of and information about all the models of razors. The rate at which that happens (or happened) depends entirely on member interest.

The Database has help me when I started collecting but its lacking a lot. It was a great start. Its beyond my ability to add to it so I hope this might push folks to start adding to it again.

The OP's idea is good, but pics posted in this thread would still be just a mess and no order to it. When I want to look at razor porn I go to the SOTD.

This is a really interesting idea, but I have trouble visualizing the parameters that would be used to be distinguishing among similar types of razors.

No insult to the other SR owners or to dog owners, but the variations among "different" types/styles of straights are as varied as AKC registered breeds of canines, and they are evolving/changing and cross-breeding all the time (and have been for hundreds of years in the case of razors) to create "new" hybrids.

As I said, it's an interesting idea, but I just can't wrap my head around how it could be done.

There was a time when straight razors were designed to be utilitarian, simply a tool for beard removal. a lot of them had similar designs. Today, razors can be both a shaving tool and a work of art.

It would be easy enough to start a new sub forum, call it "the razor museum" or similar but that's where the easy part ends.

It would have to be organized and continually shuffled around and checked for duplicates and other things.

Any volunteers? We can discuss it with "the boss".
