Default List of all metals used by Iwasaki-san?

    Hi folks,

Looking to get some more knowledge dropped on me

This time, was wondering if I may pick your collective brain on the various blade materials that were used for kamisoris and straight razors by Mr. Shigeyoshi Iwasaki. I know he's retired(semi?), and I usually see the vintage models being offered in Swedish steel or tamahagane.

Anyone know whether there were any other steels used by Iwasaki-san (e.g. curious whether there were any made with the ever-ubiquitous Hitachi steels or other carbon steels prevalent in Japanese cutlery), and also whether there were any notable variants in the Swedish steel? (I hear the term Swedish steel mentioned in many different razors, but just wondering whether there's also a sub-category).

In fact, I'd also greatly appreciate it if anyone could refer me to all steel types employed throughout the history of straight razors. Thank you!

Coming from the knife world, I just love knowing about different steels. I'm not someone to argue which is superior or inferior, I just love variety in life in general, so just trying to learn. Thank you!

    Josh

Thank you for the link! Very neat that such an analysis was done on a metal made from traditional materials (iron sand) and process.

Tried doing some cursory search earlier, but I'll do some more digging through the search!
