    Default Carl Mertens

I stubbled upon this interesting german article about Roland Koch, a razor grinder previously employed by Edaco of Solingen. I was unaware that Edaco was still producing razors. It appears they were recently acquired by Carl Mertens.

Here is a google translation of the german article

Mertens website does not seem to carry straight razors yet, but I imagine based on this article that this may soon change.

Here is an interesting video about the company:

Should be quite interesting to see what they will produce.

Any connection to the “Mesiter Mertens” Renaissance Razors?

I thought of that as well, but I believe the Renaissance razors that are stamped " Meister Mertens" are made by Dovo.

Dovo produced several 'Meister' razors....I think tributes to great Solingen industry captains.
I have looked and cannot see where Mertens made razors with their name on them?

The DR Balfanz razors Dovo made are a tribute to an author who wrote the book on Solingen industry, I think.

This would be an interesting study. My mind is blank right now, but what are the other 'Meister' razors?

Here are some...Meisters Ross, JTALL, Funk, Weiss, and Stoll.

Betcha some study on these names would be interesting?

For instance, there was a razor maker, Gerbruder Stoll, from 1900 to 1922.
Still, I think a tribute to this man..http://stoll.com/company/company-history/5_3
