    Unusual....Looks like the scales and blade have been shortened?

    Inscriptions etched on the blade are cut off, so it was certainly shortened

    Man, if you could unpin the top and appropriately shorten and shape the top ends of the scales and drill new pivot holes to fit the blade. It would make for a nice shorty.

    Great shorty in the making!
    The blade should be shaped a bit IMO.
    Those middle pins become a problem when you cut the scales and move the pivot pin down... As the tang can't go far enough down, causing the blade to rest too high when closed.
    A fix for this is to remove the middle pin and fill the holes.
    ... The original pin after you cut it, can be shaved flush on the inside and then glued in on both scales. Or fill with something else.
    Need a closed pic to see the length of the scales that may need to be cut off..
