Default Mineral oil and bone scales ?

I have a Joseph Elliot with bone scales . I put a drop of mineral oil on the tang at the pivot pin and it has discolored my scales . Are they ruined or will they return to thier normal color ?

It may be that you have a ton of rust under those scales. It may be wise, depending on how ambitious you are, to remove the scales and remove the rust from the blade at the pivot!

    Sounds like it is bone!

Bone is very porous, so it most likely sucked up the oil and anything that was traveling with it!

Thanks for the info , guys . It's not from rust , I got the razor on ebay from altima55 , and it is clean as a hounds tooth . I suppose I'd rather have a little discoloration on the scales than rust on the tang .
