Thanked: 0Soap residue
Ok, I'm not entirely sure what to do about a problem I've noticed. On my razor after I shave, I always rinse the razor to remove visible soap. That said, I've always got a residue of soap scum on the razor itself. I typically wipe it off of the bulk of the blade with a cotton towel, making sure not to touch the edge for fear of damaging it. This being a Stainless razor rust isn't the biggest worry I have, however I'd like to keep them clean simply because that's the kind of ocd I am.
How do you guys do it, or is this simply a case of me using sub par soaps? (I'm using soaps I got from classic shaving so I assumed they were quality.)

I don't do it everytime, but if I notice residue, I'll apply some alcohol with a cotton ball. I gently swipe it from spine to edge. Then I place a towel flat on the counter and use a stropping motion to wipe the blade clean. This usually gets any soap off.

It depends what you are doing while you shave. Some rinse under the faucet, some in a sink or basin, some wipe on a towel as they shave. You might be having too thick of a lather maybe you should thin it out a bit so it would rinse off as you shave. There is nothing wrong after shaving with doing a stropping motion on a towel a couple times. That should remove any residue. Lather does not have to have the consistancy of concrete you know.

I notice this a lot to with my razors while I shave. I do like having a thick lather, so I might have to thin mine out. I try and clean while I shave and also do a stropping motion on a towel when I see the residue come up during my shave.

Well, what ever you do...don't take a magnifier to the edge and see the skin cells and other stuff that you did not get by rubbin' down the blade
I give a good wipe-down and strop on the canvas side a few, the leather side a few, have a look, clean? yes, put in it's purdy lil' box till next time Good-enough-for-me!

Thanked: 2209I put some liquid dish soap on the blade, rub it around and then rinse it off under running water. Works every time!
