Thanked: 39Question on Puma Razors
So I came across two Puma razors and was wondering if anyone can tell me if these are the good “older” pumas or the bad new ones. Thanks!

Thanked: 315Wasn't aware there was a period of "bad" Pumas. I would like to hear what more knowledgeable members have to say on the topic.
If they hone well and have well I would say you got good ones!
Oops. Just realised those are the bad ones. I'll take them off your hands. Your welcome.- Joshua

Thanked: 3226Those look like 2 good quality vintage Puma razors. One of the give aways is that they are pinned the old fashioned/traditional way being peened on both sides. The currently made Pumas use the new nail head pins that are only peened on one side having a nail head on the other, usually the show side. I believe someone may have bought the rights to the name Puma so they are not the original vintage ones.
From what I can tell this https://www.ebay.com/itm/Puma-5-8-Bl...dc15e7aecd1fe5 is a current production model

Thanked: 9If the Puma has it's original scales with the numbers engraved around the pivot pin on the show side it is from the "good times". This was a quality control step which they promoted heavily. A Puma without those numbers doesn't guarantee that it is a later model, but if it does have them then buy with confidence.

Only have to look at that one Bob linked to see that it's rubbish.
Edge is frowning & has been ground right up to the stabiliser. Sad...The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

The old pre-war from Lauterjung were the ones from which the legend comes.
Seems that postwar production was from Dovo.
Good stuff, too!Last edited by sharptonn; 03-08-2019 at 02:38 PM.
