    Pure-dee decoration.

They gonna tell you it's for shaving under the nose, it's for the barber to open the razzer on his shirt pocket, etc.

It's a style like a Spanish point, French point. JMO

Yup, long debated but nothing conclusive. Best use for it that I heard is that it’s there to hook onto a pocket or table edge to open it one handed, though I do that while holding the scales and pulling on the tail.

Yea we've been debating that for I don't know how many years.

Whatever seems more logical to you, you believe.

I've always thought it was a style thing. Many think it had something to do with razor performance in one way or another.

I have always thought that it was a tool for the barber to use to judge the radius of the customers facial features.

I just think they look cool, like tail-fins on an old caddy!

Hey I remember when my dad had a 1958 Plymouth Belvedere with the tail fins. One of the sales points was an automatic tranny with push-buttons.

From what I read in an ol barbers handbook, it was used to channel mustache hair out of the way, while trimming just above the lip
