Thanked: 0Gillette Tech Identification
Hi folks,
Many years ago I purchased a razor from Ebay. It was a beautiful old Gillette, nicely weighted with a good handle length. I loved it and it really made a huge difference in my self-care routine.
I think this is the item title from the auction::1967 Gillette Aluminium Tech USA Safety Razor M4.
Unfortunately I left it in a hotel in Spain a couple of years ago and wasn't able to recover it. I've finally gotten around to getting a new one, so I ordered one from ebay, which just arrived. I made sure to order a 'Tech', and I thought I was getting much the same thing. The razor looks very much the same, but it is extrememly light and the handle is ridiculously short.
The new one::1973 T4 English Gillette Aluminum Tech Vintage Double Edge Safety Razor
Was 'Tech' the name for Gillette's travel razors only or was it the name of the whole model series? I am pretty sure I got a travel razor, which won't work for me. It is way too light and even though I am not a big guy, the handle feels like a child's toy size to me. Does the 'T4' indicate travel?
Any idea?
Cheers
Bertok
