Thanked: 110Daily comfort shave?
Hello fella's.. I was wondering the other evening about where most SR shavers are satified most mornings or evening shaves at? I.e. Is a CCS fine for most, does it have to be a DFS? or do you not feel right until your face/beard is BBS?... I know when i finally crossed that line to being a daily SR shaver and not " I can use one when i want" type that i thought everyone are pro's at this must get BBS shaves without even trying and anything less was inadequate.. After a lot of nicks, cuts, way too much razor burn i turned the dial down to where im at now.. I shave 6-7 days a week with somewhat heavy whiskers.. With that I almost always do 2 passes with clean up and i am inSS...S the perfectly confortable CCS range and i am good with that.. On a more formal day or evening i will go with 3 pass + cleanup but notice more irritation and aftershave burn but will give me a nice DFS.. If i need the best i can get for some reason and looking for total BBS then its time for The Vintage Gillette DE loaded with a new feather or a Gem loaded with a new coated blade... For me those 2 give me the closest, most comfortable shaves i can get.. The BBS does not happen often... After my normal long posts for simple question.. Where do you guys normally have your whiskers at after your shaves? thanks fella's.. Scott

Thanked: 3227Normally I shave every day in the morning with a straight razor. The odd time I will use a DE/SE for a change of pace or when I travel. I have finally got my edges on the straight razors I use to the point where I can get as good a shave with them as with a Gillette Fat Boy @ 9. Those edges allow me to do a 4 pass shave with comfort. I try for a BBS every time and on occasion that happens.

I am happy if my normal everyday morning shave is a PFT.

I shave every two days in the evening except on Sunday.A BBS is something i only get occasionally, usually with a fresh DE or a freshly honed SR that i get lucky on. I would say CCS or DFS the rest of the time.

Thanked: 4827I shave mostly every second day. I can do a single, mostly against the grain pass daily for a irritation free, very close shave. If I shave every second day I can do two passes of two and a half and also have a very close and comfortable shave. I do not chase a BBS shave.

CCS for me. Every two days in my morning after a couple cups of coffee. I quit chasing BBS and the irritation went away. I still have a couple spots the never get BBS so i just live with it. Good enough for me.
It's just Sharpening, right?

I usually shave every other day. I do a four pass shave that leaves me BBS, for the most part. Mapping, is key to a irritation free shave, for me. That and a well honed razor.!
Of coarse, 30 some years with a straight will temper your skin, in comparison to someone new to the game.
Here's a tip...quit concentrating, and over analyzing on the shave, and just shave. Your trying too hard, let it just happen.
Once I let go of my fears and just shaved, it all started coming together.
Relax.....enjoy...map your beard.Mike

Thanked: 556I usually shave every 2 days and get a BBS shave most times with a straight. If I have a special event coming up, I will wait 3 and sometimes 4 days between shaves so I get an extra special smooth face. That’s when I shave test a newly honed edge or a new stone as well.

Three pass shave, as close as I can get on work days, (Sunday to Thursday), no shave on days off. I look forward to my Sunday shave, my face doesn't feel clean without a shave
