    Default Beau Brummel #18

I just finished restoring this Beau Brummel. It probably has the nicest acrylic scales I’ve come across.

It arrived with a slight frown - first one I’ve dealt with.

BB makes a very good razor. Later in their history they forged an alliance with DD who sold their razors in their store as upper end pieces.

I think that mark was part of that Dubl Duck line up. As such it should be inline with the rest of the razors they marketed.
    It’s a looker for sure.

Good looking razor. It looks like its straight now. I think I would have put a straight smile in it. The spine looks curved a little. Remember that straight is one step away from a frown. Still, it looks like you did a fine job.

I've never seen one in person, but if the scales are celluloid (like the ones on my Otto Deutsch), keep this razor away from any other razors, and keep an eye on the blade. Those celluloid scales gas like mad.

Otherwise, yes, it's basically a Dubl Duck in nicer scales, so a decent razor. I would pay no more than $75 for it in its current shape, because removing the frown might make the blade unstable. That's hard to tell from the pictures, but if you can feel the blade, make sure you do not have to hone it flat in a way that will make the blade floppy.

I agree. A very slight smile would fit naturally with the slight curve in the spine. I just wouldn't know how to do that.

It did seem that while I was honing, the point is wanting to grind away faster, so I think it may smile naturally over time.
