So I had been on the hunt (ain't I always?) For a 6/8 Union Cutlery razor when I spotted a 3 pin Spike in a pile of other shave stuff. Took a chance and went for it. Not a 6/8 sad to say, but a generous 5/8. But what makes it interesting is the tang stamps. Standard issue SPIKE on the face, but where every other spike I have handled was manufactured in NY, this one is manufactured in Morovia Iowa
We all know that American Hone also was a NY business that took its Frictionite, and moved, does anybody know if Union Cutlery was connected to them? Did they move at the same time, or did one follow the other? It's not a deep mystery, but I myself am fascinated and curious as to the history behind it.
And ignore the feline photographers assistant, he refused to leave the backdrop, so I Made him the backdrop. 😝
