Yes, I say you were right, it is not a W&B. You can't go by the box a razor came in as a lot of times they are mismatched. There should also be markings sayin Made in Sheffield of Made in Sheffield England on the razor if it was made by W&B even if it was for a US importer. Still it is a nice heirloom to have regardless.

It certainly not the type phase of the WB Special I have. I honestly am not sure how long they've been making the Special but unless it were a contract razor (I don't even know if WB made contract razors) then it certainly would have The emblem somewhere: the name, the arrow and circle B, the German cross or something
After a better picture I tend to agree but sometimes we get wishful thinking. That certainly would be a nice hand me down.
