I have seen W & B since I was a kid, but I've never seen one with a sloped spine and jimps, top or bottom. I think someone did some custom work on it.

The only thing I can say is it's pre 1891 because it is not stamped with Sheffield England just Sheffield. You likely knew that already though. I'd say the jimps on the spine were done when it was made as the steel is harden and doing it after is pretty difficult. An original and interesting piece for sure.

I do remember you posted that once before. Either that or someone else posted exactly the same thing which I highly doubt. I wonder if that was a custom piece from the factory. A special piece by contract to a specific buyer maybe. Whatever it is I agree with Bob. It looks like that had to be made at the factory. It's a very unique piece which I have never seen before except for the one post before which I'm sure had to be you. My guess would be probably 1870s 1880s I guess. I can't see the whole thing in the pictures. Cool specimen though. You'll definitely want to hang on to it.

The last time I dated a Wade and Butcher it stood me up. Just saying.
