NOS 7/8 Hamburg Ring "Timor"
I hope I'm not going to regret posting this before snapping one up, but does anyone have any info on these razors? I.e. are these a decent shaver, not impossible to hone etc?
Apparently they're a 7/8 Hamburg Ring "Timor" blades made by Giesen and Forsthoff (Solingen) in 1964 and never sold.
£60 = $120 - that's a pretty good price if they're decent razors! Weird thing is TGS is just down the road from me so I'll scoot down there and pick one up if they're any good.
Cheers,
Iwan

They Can be a bit finicky for a newbie to hone but once they're dialed in they give a good shave.
they sing back at you .This & the 8/8 were my first large blades ,which in turn led me to Maestro Livi. I think that they've got about 8 left ,but this is just a guess from when I bought mine .Paul

Thanked: 108Weird. That appears to be made from a Filarmonica blank. Only Filarmonica used those numbers – 12, 13, 14 – for razor sizes (5/8, 6/8, and 7/8 respectively, I think). So far as I know. And made in Valencia (most fillies are made in Barcelona, but some come from Valencia, Cordoba, and Toledo).
I am a huge filarmonica fan so if that's a filly blank it gets my thumbs up. I have a few Filarmonica 14s with exactly this blade profile, which is what makes me think this is a Spanish razor with German branding, rather than vice-versa. At any rate, they're superb razors.Last edited by dylandog; 08-15-2007 at 09:43 PM.

I recently Purchased the 7/8" and noticed the same similarities to the Filarmonica Razors. Mine has 'Madrid' on the front tang. I've wondered if these were contracted to Filarmonica....

Hmmm, very tempting. I might try and swing by there later today/tomorrow and pick one up if they have any left now.
It seems they have a confused history behind them, I did think the stamping on the tang was a little odd for a razor made in Solingen.
