Default What is available in 1/2 or 1/4 hollow

Hello. I have a bunch of full hollow razors, and I'm looking to try out either a 1/2 hollow or 1/4 hollow razor. I was hoping to get some suggestions on razor makers that make that grind. I see most of the modern mass produced razors like Dovo and Boker are mostly full-hollow razors, so I assume I have to get a custom straight razor made?

I'm aware of Portland Razor Co, Brian Brown Razor Works, and Jerry Stark, any thoughts on those? Other makers to consider? I'm not looking for anything super expensive, I'd say under $300-350.

    Thanks in advance!

If you're not set on a new production razor, there are loads of options from Sheffield.

Wacker Solingen used to make near wedges and 1/4 hollows until at least 5 years ago when I got mine. Not sure about now but you could shoot them an email. I have no info on 1/2 hollow but again they'll advise.

If you want to go the custom route, I recommend Rigarazor.

There are some nice vintage nos razors to be found on eBay, some of which are quarter hollows.

As an example, here is a nice nos quarter hollow by Tuckmar.

Le grelot and puma also have quarter hollow models that are quite nice.

There are many vintage Japanese razors to be found that come with a quarter hollow grind, if you are looking for a modern razor with that grind then look no further than the custom razor made by Sergej, called a Rigarazor.

Would you happen to have a contact e-mail? I don't see one on their website.

You can't go wrong with Riga Razor. I got mine on ebay from him for a very reasonable price (some he sells auction style). Should be in your price range too . Here's a link to the Rigarazor Regatta if you want to see some razor porn. Sorry i can't help with any contact info.

He has a store on Esty, he makes one or two razors then he lists them, just put in a search you will come across them.

Check out the B/S/T forum here. There are frequently 1/4 hollow razors for sale made by Wade & Butcher, Wostenholm, etc. All old English mfg. of very good straight razors.
