A few years ago, I wanted to add a shorty razor to my collection--I liked the Portland Sprite. In looking recently, it seems difficult to find anyone making short razors, so it seems that it's a niche within the niche of straight razor shaving. The reason I'm looking at a shorty is I feel I have better control with the shorter Feather AC razor I have and I wanted to add something similar that wasn't a replaceable blade. After doing a little research, it seems my options are to place a custom order, try a Kamisori (or foldable Kamisori), or find someone who's turned a damaged razor into a working shorter blade. The last option is likely the cheapest (my goal until I know how I like it), but I don't like that most of them I see are in full size scales. There's one on the BST right now where someone made custom scales for a short blade razor--it's beautiful and seems like what I want, but I'm not in a spot to buy today (thinking more of something to ask for as a gift later this year).

Any insights into pros/cons of Kamisori vs. shortened western style straight razors? There are some folding Kamisori on eBay for $50-$80--but I'm not sure how difficult it would be to get them honed (plus I'm left handed which could be a problem if they are one-sided grinds). Thanks.
