Thanked: 17Put me in the near wedge then quarter then half camp. I like the heft, the weight behind the stroke, the silence, and feeling like I'm shaving with a knife. Add to it that I prefer the older razors that kind of puts you in those heavy grinds.

I like my big'uns, as in heavy, curvy old Sheffield near-wedges. But if I could only have one grind, my sweet spot seems to be quarter hollow, 6 or 7/8" shoulder-less grinds, or rattler grinds, preferably hump-backs just cuz they look cool (so Ern Ators and big humpback Freddies). Though I've managed to coax some great edges and shaves from a few full-hollows, others seem to leave me raw, but that's probably just me.
There are many roads to sharp.

Thanked: 174It depends on my shaving frequency: if I need to remove a couple of days' growth I prefer to do it with 1/4 or heavier grind, but if I need to shave daily then I really like super flexible large sized extra hollows.

Thanked: 603#MeToo... the first part, that is -- I've dropped to weekly (or bi-weekly) shaving, and Dima's preference is mine (along with 6/8" blade height); where we differ is that if/when I need to shave more "regularly", I stay with a near-wedge grind and drop down to a lighter-weight 9/16" blade (Union Cutlery, among others).
You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.
