Rattler or Faux Frameback
Have a question for y'all.
I have both grinds, in 7/8th razors, but my question is about a 5/8ths Klas Tornblom I finally got around to put scales on.
To me...it looks to be a Rattler, but I'm not exactly positive.
So what's your thoughts on this.
For comparison.
Freddy Reynolds... Faux Frameback
Northfield Rattler
So what's the consensus gents, Rattler or FauxMike

I would call it a faux frameback

Looks to me that the thin grind of a rattler goes much higher up towards the spine as this does.
My guess is a faux frame back rattler

Thanked: 154I'd say neither... Rattlers should have close to no curvature on the grind because they are ground along the length of the blade, not its width. This one is more like "extra extra hollow" with no belly
Beautiful is important, but when all is said and done, you will always be faithful to a good shaver while a bad one may detter you from ever trying again. Judge with your skin, not your eyes.

Thanked: 634If you look at the charts on strazors.com it does not even mention 'Rattled' only faux Frameback.

I thought about that as well, but the grind looks identical to what you mention for a Rattler, like the Northfield Rattler. I just can't see getting a wheel in that tight to the spine. That's why I added the Reynolds for reference.
, oh well...sure shaves a treat.! All that matters, in the end.Mike

They are all rattler grinds. They are ground from heel to toe and were much more difficult for the old masters to grind. Faux frameback is a modern misnomer. Here is a discussion from several years ago. https://sharprazorpalace.com/razors/...n-rattler.html

rattler, my understanding is that a faux frameback has a seperate piece added on the spine. where as a real frameback has the spine and tang as one piece with a seperate peice of metal added as the blade.
