Found some cheap wapi's
I found a source thats selling them for $18 shipped... a little "spider web scratched"... you know, how high polish chrome gets when little things scratch it.. nothing serious though... i DOUBT its shave ready... but thats it, i was thinking about using THAT as a means to opening myself to str8s... cheap, looks good, and if i screw it off, no harm done so should i go for both that and that cleaver that C utz is sellin? or is the wapi a generally crappy razor, and im better off saving my money for the cleaver?

Wapi's are a good razor at an exceptional value. They do not come shave ready though.
Some feel that the metal scales throw off the balance.
There is tons of info about these razors on these boards.

yeah, i did a search... but all pretty generalized info... nothing about the quality of the razor.. i see a lot of people buyin em and putting new scales on em... but not much about the actual quality of them... and whether or not $18 is a deal, or if i could find better.

If people here are buying them up and investing new scales on them... They are a safe bet. I already have my one new razor and haven't needed to get another... yet... glade I like the old stuff

You did not look hard enough. There are 62 threads on 3 pages of results when I searched "wapi".
Several threads extol the virtue and price of these razors. HERE is one of the first.
There are several more, but that thread should give you a rough idea if you read all of it.
There is also THIS
and THIS
and several more on those 3 pages of results.
I would suggest you also read THIS is you haven't already.
I hope that helps.

It's all in the other threads but to summarise. These are cheaply produced hospital/medical razors from Poland. They are/were manufactured to a low cost but actually use pretty decent steel for the blades. They take an edge easily, and shave superbly once they're honed.
I've honed/used about 7 of these so far, and they were all really good. I sold them all to friends of mine who I was trying to get started in straight razor shaving. For the price, you can't really go wrong. These are in a different league to the cheap and nasty razors you see on ebay, Zeepk etc.

JohnE seems to be the main supplier of shave-ready wapis to the newbies here. He's a man with a mission to help newbies start off really well.
(Although I'm not sure whether right now his altruism extends to you.)
I almost got a wapi, but decided to start vintage May be wapi would be the razor to learn honing though.

i think me and jone are pretty solid... i extended a humble, and sincere apology... and im pretty sure he willingly and whole heartedly accepted it... i was a bit of an ass, and i let a little bit of RAD freak me out... lol although, IZLAT is showing me some nice razors, i might end up picking one of those up a few look like the W&Bs ive been looking at... including C utz's meat cleaver.... which, while i LOVE that razor, i could definitely see feasibility in finding one of lesser..... "value"... lol dont really have the cash to spend on a $140 razor... but i will if its what i want... just, at the moment... i may have a few other nice razors on the plate
