Collector's Call
Just a heads up, for those with fairly large collections of razors.
When's that last time you thoroughly looked thru your collection.?!
I just went thru mine the other day, and I found two that were in the beginning stages of cell rot. Just a bit of rust on the tangs, but nothing serious.
Both were faux tortoise shell. And I'm happy to say, none others were infected, being I keep these types away from others.
Their gonna go off on ya someday, just a matter of when.
So go spend an hour or two, and take a thorough look over your stock, every now n then.

For the last year Ive been going thru and checking every razor as I set it in my mind to use every one last year. I made it thru them all and ended up with another 10 or so in the "needs honed" cup. So I have seen them all close up in the last 10 months or so.
But thanks for pointing it out, Mike. I would suck to open up a drawer and find rust on a drawer full. It's just Sharpening, right?

Well - since I don't have a vast collection (less than 25) mine should be easy. But Thank You Mike! Very valuable info for everyone no matter how large or small their collection is. It's just one of those things we don't think about and sometimes, it's too late!

It's a general piece of advice whenever you have pretty much any type of collection you should check it every now and then for any issues that might arise. With a razor it's easy. You only have to worry about scale deterioration and metal rust.
I have a mineral collection and I mean what could possibly happen to a bunch of rocks right? Well plenty. Over the years some have deteriorated to dust and some have oxidized and some have deteriorated in several other ways.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

You're right Mike. I had some candy strip scales that started going bad because part of them were clear. I got rid of them but went to digging around and I have a Northfield that just started but is still good, just barely left a spot or stain that can polish out.
