I cant think of one thing I dont like about a very hollow razor. And as far as tough beards go, mine is all gray. Thats not a soft whisker. But if a razor is sharp enough it will take off my whiskers with no effort. Like a wet wash cloth across the face.
But not everyone likes an edge that keen and some peoples skin cant take that level of keen either.Last edited by Gasman; 02-07-2021 at 08:57 PM.
It's just Sharpening, right?

Thanked: 56Don't have to tell me about the gray ones. Mine started graying at 25. Some of those bastards are twice as thick as normal.
I was thinking about the sharpness and keeness with the one you sent me and maybe trying to mellow it out a bit. But the ones I hone I would think would be the relatively same as the others I hone. Unless the extra full hollow is keener just by the design. If you're wondering I'm probably being sarcastic.

I enjoy using the singers. My neck can be easily irritated by shaving no matter what type of grind. When I shave my neck I don't try shaving/cutting the hair, I just want to wipe away the lather with the edge. Very light and smooth strokes. Also, I don't try for BBS coz it ain't worth the grief.

Thanked: 3222I have to agree that you need to adjust your shaving technique when using a very hollow grind blade compared to using a heavier grind blade. As said before use a lower angle angle on the blade, less pressure and make sure to stretch your skin. I think lather makes a difference in that a very hollow grind blade is fussier wrt having enough water in the lather. I prefer the very hollow grind blades and the scraping sound reminds me of a DE with a lot of blade exposure which are usually termed as aggressive.
