    Default Framebacks (fixed blade)

Anyone know what the construction method for these was? Are the blades soldered into place or is the frame crimped around the blade?

Soldered and crimped .I have taken loads apart maybe one or two did not have any solder , it could have fallen out i suppose.
I guess the spine is slid on then tightened, finally soldered.

I wonder how they stopped the steel blade losing hardness during soldering.

I don't think the soldering temperature is nearly high enough for that.

If you're wondering I'm probably being sarcastic.

If anyone ever needs to have the spine replaced on a frameback Glen (gssixgun) can do it. He replaced a brass one for me on a Joseph Rodgers & Sons a few years ago.

I use regular low temp lead free solder. I heat sink the hardend blade then solder into the groove.

I still need to screw around with the set you gave me to finish. Too many projects and not enough time...
