Default Results of my last "hunt" - 2x Solingen, 1x Sheffield

Got those three beauties 2 days ago for a very good price.

From up to down: Ern Solingen "Crown and Sword", Paul Halber's Spezial Solingen and Sheffield W.B Humphrey's &Co (the last seems to be the oldest one). Both Solingen SR's shave quite well my arm hair, the Sheffield SR will probably need more care and maintenance procedures.

    Very nice finds.

The scales on the bottom razor look similar to a frameback I have and I believe they are pressed leather. Is that the case with yours?

Hello, thanks for your opinion. The scales material is hard, it seems rather ebonite than pressed leather, but I will explore it more thoroughly.

I think it is violet and pressed leather on the W.B Humphrey's &Co. I have an old Sheffield around here somewhere that Geezer told me that’s what the scales were made from.

I just looked at my post. I need to proof read better. I have no idea how I mistyped it so badly that it got changed to violet, it should have read boiled and pressed leather.

@RezDog, indeed - the scales of Sheffield SR are made of pressed leather. You were absolutely right and thank you very much for explaining me that

I wanted to present you the results of the fast (for the lack of free time yesterday) cleaning and sharpening of the Halber's Spezial Garantie Solingen, 13/16" extra full hollow straight razor.

    And after completing the procedure:

The white ballance in both pictures is a little bit different, but I think there´s possible to see some difference.

I performed only chemical sterilisation, then the steel cleaning with soft vitroceramic kitchen soft cleaner and then polishing of the steel and scales (elbow grease style) with 3M green cap paste, followed by usual Unicot honing session with yellow Coticule stone with slurry, denim belt and various grades of leather. Because of the lack of time I did not use the fine sandpaper, but probably with the next honing session of this straight I will.

Anyways, there are some pictures of mines with this straight in use posted in the SOTD thread. Thanks for reading all of this

And...the second straight from the pool of 3: 7/8" Solingen Ern "The Crown&Sword" Extra Full Hollow.

Third straight razor of the 3pack is done - 6/8" W.B. Humphreys&Co from Sheffield, with pressed leather scales.
