Default Wade & Butcher - determine the year of production.

    Hi all,
Could you please help me to determine the approx years of production of W&B For Barbers Use razor. Really big, 8/8, the weight is 87-88 grams (3.0 - 3.1 oz).
I will be very grateful for your answer!

    My guess is 1850-1890.

That's kind of close to what I was thinking only I feel like it's maybe a little early in that range say 1850 to 1870. Nice find by the way. That's one of my all time favorites.

Thank you for your responses. To be honest, I thought that this was an earlier period than 1850-1870, because during this period there are razors with Wade's stamp on the shank and engraving on the wedge. But maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, thank you all!

This one is contemporaneous to yours but was, as the name suggests, hollow ground. Yours is a wedge. They made a wide range of different razors. These 2 (yours and mine) were their "commercial grade," razors and were made as tools for barber's. They were offered in wedge or hollow ground. Think about the difference between the lock on your front door and the lock on the front door of the local courthouse, school or other municipal building. That is roughly the difference.
