    Default Who made this frameback?

Hey folks, I have a soft for framebacks, got this baby recenty. It is deliciously handsome, though with no makers mark. I've seen very similar Heljestrands and Anton Bergs but can't guess about this. Maybe some of you more experienced guys here can help me about the maker. I'm gonna fully renovate it maybe with buffalo horn or stabilized wood scales.

    Thanks in advance

It looks very much like my
Jon Engstrom. The stamp is a little different and so are the dates but it's from the same era and place. Hope this helps.

Shaving with a frame back is a personal preference. Some love them. I find them a bit stiff. Sure it shaves just fine its just not even close to my top choice.
BTW, I do have 3 of them in my collection so it's not just this razor. Still, if you want to fix your up, go for it.

AB could be Swedish for Company Limited and would apply to many Swedish razor makers.

To me the shank area looks very similar of the ones from Anton Berg or Heljestrand. Engström's look a little bit different.

Style and form of the tang and how some details are ground on the tang, i.e. the thumb notch, is very typicel for Carl Victor Heljestrand.

I wouldn't worry too much about exactly which maker/company made it; the Swedish steel of the time was fantastic.

On the other hand, I would be worried about the excessive wear on both the blade and the frame/spine. I have to say, I don't know that I've ever seen one with that much. It's your razor/time/materials, so do what makes you happy, but I personally wouldn't bother with that one.
