Can anyone tell me if the new boker razors have improved in quality & edge retention in the last few years.

Never knew they had a problem. Last one I bought was 8-9 years ago.

I've owned a few king cutters & 1 7/8 limited edition & the edge seemed to fail , especially with the king cutters I would re-home them & had a real problem getting a close comfortable shave without irritation..
Granted it could be that they are not a good fit for me.

I wonder if the the first part of the blade has been over heat treatment, and too brittle to hold an edge. Have you checked with a loupe for what's happening. ?

I own a couple newer razors, that were that way. Once I honed it several times, the edge finally stopped degrading. My only thought on your situation, assuming your a veteran shaver by your membership here.

I brought a Boker #14 last year and have been very happy with it. The fit, finish and grinding is excellent.

Not sure what I have but it's a Boker and its great.

Pretty, easy to hone, holds an edge and shaves like a dream.

Love my Boker! Have never had a problem with it honing or keeping an edge! A really great shaver. But mine is an older one. Sorry you are experiencing this!

Not sure if its an edge retention problem or poor geometry or both.
I've had a few Bokers and overall the bevel angle is lower than most others leading to quicker edge failure.
They are very well ground - very thin blades and spines on the thinner side as well.
They take wonderful edges for the most part though.
