    Default Thiers Issard review

Hello folks! I have been shaving with this Thiers-Issard "Exposition d'Alger" for a while now:

The reason why I write this is because I realize I can confirm what many say about T-I: quality control of finishing was a bit sloppy, but when you get it honed and "polished" right it's awesome!

The first problem I noticed was that the varnish on the scales was uneven. I eventually fixed this with a little shellac.

The second problem was a pretty common one: the factory edge was supposed to be great, but it wasn't even close. Something about the steel felt like high quality though, and I think I have now confirmed this. Gssixgun on here fixed the edge nicely. After using it a few times I used my strop with thin slurry applied, which made it even better.

I love the way it lies on the strop (it is essentially heelless), and the relatively solid feel of the blade (for a full hollow it has a slight heft reminding me a bit of a wedge shaped edge, or something in between). Now it is one of my best shavers for sure.

Great idea having Glen sort out the honing. It's a very nice razor for sure.
