Thread: Iwasaki razor - how I bought it

Since I have received quite a few inquiries about the Iwasaki razor, I thought it would be a good idea to 'go public'

I asked Seiya Kobayashi to make a purchase and ship the razor to me. He was kind enough to oblige. His site is here:

He is mostly interested in watches, but can get hands on pretty much everything, if asked nicely. Sadly, Seiya-san recently fell ill, and no longer can help with obtaining goods from Japan. He was my only source. I sure hope he gets better, for he is a true gentleman, always willing to go extra mile to help his customers.
Bottom line is that I don't have a clue how to obtain anything from Japan. There are proxy services, but I have never used them. As reported by Joel of badgerandblade, buying a razor made by a reputable maker can be particularly difficult, as he was blatantly robbed by one outfit in the past.
If you have ideas how to go about procuring stuff from the Land of th Rising Sun, I' love to hear them.
