    Default Gentlemen....

Hope everyone's doing well, been busy here, went down another collecting hole for awhile, still loving my straight razor shaves.

Having said that, wife wants to do some "organizing" and I'm going through my collection. Now I know I share some RAD with other members here, but after counting over 200 razors, yea, finding that "other" box of razors was a little surprising....lol.

Who knew you could suddenly have over 20 high quality brushes all sitting in boxes? Wife, "You have over 20 shaving brushes? Just how many faces do you have? How much were these....??" Phrank changes subject immediately, "....darling you look wonderful today, look, squirrel!"

Think I'll sell a few here so I know they'll go to true collectors, but I have to figure out a way not to let my wife clean me out.

Any ideas on proper storage that doesn't involve a large wooden chest?

Would that be a large wooden chest for the brushes or for you ?

Welcome back Phrank. Glad you made it out alive. I think my wife is in a state of self imposed blissful ignorance. What she doean't know can't hurt her sort of thing.

Got no real good suggestions other than shoe boxed with a cedar block like the ones for your dresser drawers.

Looking forward to what you have to part with though.

Ha, it was the large razor chest that always been there, then she looked inside the 3 drawer dresser it sits on top of and found boxes of razors, soaps, brushes...forgot I had 4 Gillette Fatboy Adjustable razors, that got her arms crossed and her toes tapping.

Then in another basement room, 2 massive fountain pen case holders she found full of my frameback razor collection. Then a few brushes from Lee S from when we were texting, Morris & Forndran brushes....

Then another wooden box...I'll just stop there, as I'll be cooking dinner tonight.

The drawer full of soaps though, I took some major damage for those, even though I love and use them all....

edited to add: so looks like I'm going through it over the next couple of weeks and whittling down, or else I'm moving in with Sharptonn, at least he understands.

Har! Sounds like you got off on the wrong foot, Phrank!

Might be too late to do it but I simply took over a small room and installed a mini barber shop, 4 HO train display cabinets on the walls for razors. A mug display, barber cabinets (full of razors} and of course, my 'razor table'
    and 'Razor Clock'.

Also commandeered an adjoining room and have a cabinet for NOS strops and sets/pairs of razors. Scads of strops hanging in the closet.
OH! a half-bath crammed with lather, AS, brushes, etc.
SHE had no say in the matter.........

You know, there also is the option of indoctrination...

I mean... I live with 3 girls, and all of them have their brushes, razors and soap (I made a shaving soap just for them - yes it's pink).
Admittedly the young ones just have fancy cartridge (Gilette 2 blades) holders, but the chief of the pack has no less than 3 straights.

Give her a few brushes and soaps and you're back in the game for years

I still have to be a tad cautious not to go to far budget wise and space wise, but well, the boss is both a knitter and a "book dragon", so "the talk" goes both ways

@sharptonn : very very nice display! Impressive!

Beautiful is important, but when all is said and done, you will always be faithful to a good shaver while a bad one may detter you from ever trying again. Judge with your skin, not your eyes.

Oh believe me, I've tried. You'd have thought I was wearing a goalie mask and wielding a chainsaw.

But I commend you for pulling that off.

    That's one solution.

That reminds me of a story Tony Tedesco's wife tells where she told him, "it's me or that guitar." He told her, "honey, I love you but you have legs, that guitar doesn't."
