My first Straight
Folks -
I am new to the straight razor and today acquired my first at a collectible store in Omaha, NE. On one side of the Tang, it has the number 50 and says J.A Henckels
Twin Works and Germany. On the other side it says Graef and Schmidt. It has black scales and a beautiful blade and heft. Is it possible to get the manufacture date from the info attached. I have also attached photos. I am hoping this will be a great blade for my first straight shave!
Thanks in advance for your help.

Looks like it's only a hone and a strop away from a great shave!

Thanked: 7Thanks for posting this purchase. It reassured me that a razor I was about to bid on was legit. It's the exact same, save without case. I got it for ~$15 shipped so now I'm going to wait and see how it looks. At worst, it's a razor to play with for honing, at best, a good first razor. Sooooooo excited!
PS. Sorry for bumping a dead thread!

my first straight
Hi I'm also thinking about my first straight and there are a lot on amzon.com for around or under 10GBP obviously they wont be very good but could i still shave with one without having to hone it every other day, or is it more of a toy than a razor?
