Hi Jeff,
It seems counter intuitive, but that's indeed how you hone - blade edge first. Stropping, on the other hand, is lead with the spine.
Might I suggest investing in Lynn's DVD - it's an invaluable resource and teaches not only the basics of shaving, honing, stropping, etc., but also provides advanced techniques as well.

Thanked: 0..umm..but his video shows him pulling the razor across the hone, towards him with both hands, and the blade pointing away from him.. hes pulling spine-first.. and thats correct? I thought you honed by the blade leading.. not the spine.. ????

Ahh...sorry, I didn't view the Schick honing video #2. In the first video, you can see him honing the razor - pushing/drawing the razor with the leading edge. As far as I know (and I'm new to this game as well), that's the way you would normally hone a razor. The Schick video #2 looks like back-honing. I've read about this on the forum, whereby if you over-hone a razor, you can "restart" by back-honing, and then starting again.
Other SRP members with more honing experience than me can most definitely give you a better explanation than I can, and probably correct some of the things I've just said as well.
So, SRP members?
