Default What does it feel like?

I attempted my 3rd shave today and achieved near BBS on my cheeks and I did 1 pass WTG on my neck. I am so used to DE's slicing through the whiskers like butter, that I am not sure if shaving with a straight is supposed to feel almost "rough" in comparison. I am not sure if it is my blade or technique, or if that's how it is supposed to feel.

Sounds like you're coming alone nicely!!

I know what you mean about the difference in feel. What I can tell you is with a straight, even more than a DE, shaving is a matter of multiple passes of stubble reduction. Don't worry if each pass is not a complete shave, just keep at it. Sometimes I take 6 (some just over the trouble areas) passes! Other times 3-4 will get me all the way there.

That said, skin pulling, honing, stropping, lather, angle, stroke, pressure, grip etc etc all make a huge difference and as your techinques improve, I think you'll notice the feel gets less "rough" and more 'shave like'.

Keep at it, to be BBS on your 3rd shave is amazing. I was still 'cheeks only' at 3. I'm pretty envious.

    Enjoy!
