Thanked: 0Col. Ichabod Conk Razor?
Hello Fellas,
I met up with my father this morning to drop him off on the CT portion of the Appalachian Trail and he brought with him a "Col. Ichabod Conk" "Solingen Best Quality" Razor. On the box it says "Made by skilled craftsmen in Solingen West*Germany. I imagine is must be a Dovo? It doesn't say Dovo anywhere on the box or tang though. Just Solingen Germany stamped on one side of the tang and the rest is written on the other side & blade.
It has nice balance, is pretty light and has very thick solid mother of pearl handles, and 3 either gold or polish brass pins, they're very shiny. 5/8" blade. It also appears to be carbon steel, as it had a tad of surface rust. It appears to never have been used, as it was wrapped in wax paper, and has never been honed. He gave it to me to sharpen, but I'm not sure I will til I know more about it. I think it's probably ~10-15 years old?
Sorry I don't have a camera to take pictures with.
So was this a special marketing razor to try to sell the soap with the razor or what? A quick search didn't turn anything up for me but I have been known to miss stuff.
Edit: I would like to add that Sheffield, MA, though having a good name, has very little in the way of razors
Another Edit: It is a dovo, though I don't see any info about the MOP handled one. This one is very similiar: http://www.amazon.com/Colonel-Ichabo...392398&sr=1-18
Is this razor any different from other dovos of the same size?Last edited by Baran; 10-14-2007 at 08:07 PM.

DOVO makes a 5/8 razor with MOP scales. Here it is. Looks like it only has two pins though.
