    Default razor ID and age?

    I have an old razor and am wandering if someone can help me ID it. I think it is an old TI. Here are a few pictures. The blade has a fine delicate edge that flexes easily against my thumb and it has a good weight but it has cheap plastic scales.

    Thanks
    Mason

    Mason: She is French, but not a TI. Grelot is a name I recognize from ebay auctions.

    Le Grelot was one of the bigger French razor brands (of not the biggest), if the frequency of how often they come up on ebay is anything to go by.

    Default Concerning Le Grelot

    Ruckeriii;

    "Le Grelot" was one of two companies located in/near the city of Thiers that used to be major competitors to Thiers-Issard for the straight razor trade. Le Grelot had two razor brands: these being "Le Grelot" and also "Jaguar". The second major producer in the area made the "Champion" brand straight razor.

    Neither of the two firms is still in business. "Le Grelot", in particular, was bought out by a company called "Welcome" (or perhaps "Welkome") which produced a limited number of razors from some of the old razor blank forgings and finally closed its doors in 1986.

    Both of these companies made excellent razors, although I understand that the "Le Grelot" and "Jaguar" brands while they were, indeed, fully hollow ground razors were not so deeply ground - and thus not quite as thin - as some other competing brands of their time.
