    Default wapienica ebay

    hi there,
I'm from australia and i am interested in purchasing two wapienica razors to practice honing with off ebay. there are two sellers that offer similar deals: stamps222:

    And open_razor (more expensive shipping)
Is there an advantage going one way or another?
    Cheers

I've only dealt with open razor. He always provides good custumer service. His shipping is slow because he's halfway on the other side of the world.

Same here, bought from Stamps222, and while the shipping did take close to 2 weeks to Canada, I fault that more with the customs people rather than Stamps, since the order shipped the next day.

I'm so happy with the Wapi that I'll order 2 more soon to complete my 7 razor set.

Great, thanks very much for the feedback. I assume the shavers from both vendors hone up as well as each other. Do the vendors pre hone the wapis to some extent?

i'm pretty sure the razors are not honed. both vendors sell them in large quantity and i don't think they are interested in putting any time into honing them (plus I'm not sure about wanting these selers to hone them, i'd much rather have one of the honers here do it)

From what I know, both of these vendors are actually selling razors from the same source. I believe that open_razor in Poland shipped a bunch of these razors to his mate stamps222 to distribute in the US. Open_razor is a member here and ocasionally posts razors for sale or little bits of information about what he's up to.

There are 2 types of wapis, the general consensus seems to be that the one with the stamped tang is the better one. I bought 2 of the un-stamped ones from open_razor, they arrived very quickly, seemed to be pre-honed, but not really what I'd call shave ready. They are fine razors, though I've not had one of the stamped ones to compare them with.

I've bought from Open_razor and the transaction went through smoothly and in my case the shipping was rather quick (less than a week) considering the fact I am in Singapore. I got the unmarked one from him which was not shave ready but even a newbie such as I was able to get it shave ready with some rounds on the Norton. Unfortunately I don't have the marked ones to compare with but I pretty happy with mine.

The razors are both sourced by Wojtec (Open_razor). There are lengthy threads about the logo/non logo razors and the ease/difficulty of getting them shave ready. The blade on the logo stamped ones are a little narrower and hone up more quickly. The non-logo razors have a slightly wider blade (about 6/8) and take a little more time to get shave ready.

They're both good shavers. The wider blade (no logo) is a little heavier and is better balanced to the stainless scales. Yes, all seven of my
    Wapis have stainless scales.

    YMMV

FWIW, I shaved with a Wapi the other day and the shave was excellent.

If you use care with 'practice' honing, you might end up with a very nice shaver.

    Regards
