    Default R.Sutcliffe Sheffield Razor?

I recently took delivery of a R.Sutcliffe wedge with a slanting spike point from ebay for 30 something australian dollars shipped. Below is a link the vendors picture. I have asked the vendor for its story but can anbody here tell me more about this razor.

This Razor is my favourite of my small rotation and I think I prefer wedges because of it!

    Default R. Sutcliffe's

I saw your post on R. Sutcliffe's razor and can't find much information either. I bought one from ebay that went for $92.00 including postage. Blade is engraved with Masonic symbols in an oval border. Razor shows quite a bit of hone wear and had a dull spot near the tang. Shows more hone wear now for I had to work out the dull area. Gray horn handles without cracks but has one irregularity in the surface of horn where the grain surfaces near the pivot pin. It is a heavy 6/8 semi wedge. Has just enough hollow grind to allow sharpening without touching the etching or engraving.Fairly extensive oxidation on blade but no deep pits. I haven't been able to date it or find information on the company. My best guess is 1850 plus or minus twenty years. Only work I've done on it is to hone and strop it. I may polish it but will not restore it. It will make a fine shaver. All of the men in my family are Masons and this blade is for a sons birthday. Good luck to you.
