    Default Rubber grips

I was wondering about the rubber grips you sometimes see on the shank of some razors. Was this a fad that didn't catch that manufactures tried in a certain periods. I have one so I'm a little curious. I'm going to try and add aphoto for the first time.

I don't know whether it's of a certain period, because the Dovo Bergischer Lowe has a rubber grip, and I think that's a fairly recent vintage. But it's probably a fad of some description - someone thought it was a good idea to put a little rubber sleeve around the shank, maybe for extra grip in the wet

Some guys have mentioned that the grips loosen up with use. My B-L hasn't had that issue (yet) and it's about a year since I got it. There's also an issue with crud build-up underneath the sleeve - someone mentioned an oil that's good for working it out (mparker, I think), but I can't remember what it was now. It was before the server crash, so a search might turn it up.

I would think it would just wick water right underneath it and promote rust.

i have not had the model but i recall people mentioning the attractive rust area under the grip. usually not noticed until it is real bad.
