    Question Heljestrand Frameback

    Hi,

I got this one to day, my mother had been to a fleemarket and bought it for me, does anybody have info on this razor, or has anyone tried it?

On the spine it says: Sandvik - Bessemer - Stål(steel).

It doesn't have any model number or anything on the reverse side.

how is size of framebacks messured?

If she were my Mom I would send her to the fleemarket more often!

Nice razor. I finished restoring one just like it but it was a Joh. Engstrom. I sold it to a member here on B/S/T. It is a fixed blade, i.e. it cannot be removed. The dates are what I believe to be years that Heljestrand won awards (and their respective cities) for razor making or at least something to do with his trade. These shave really well.

I have several from multiple makers and 2 from Helj. One is not nice and the other is and is going to chrisgiraffe. They are very cool but haven't shaved with it yet.

    Hei Bjørn Erik,

Nice to see some Norsk folks on here. Like Sixgun, I too would like to know where exactly you are. I lived for 13 years in Drøbak so I would have been only about a 45 min drive from Sixgun. Speaking of Six, when were you living there? I came back to Canada in 1978.

    Regards

    Christian

I just made an attempt to rescale a Helje No4, witch shaved really well so I'll try to restore this one, and see how it turns out. I "may" have some questions about restoration later, I've been quite busy reading the restoration forum lately.

I live in a small town called Elverum, it's about a 2h drive from Oslo so it's about 2.5h from Drøbak I guess.
