Long term storage
G'day I have a really nice Puma with coffin, it looks like it has never been used. Has the original plastic inner bag. Anyway I don't want to touch it until I can hone properly and confidently so I figure that will be a long time. Should I keep it in its coffin in a draw somewhere or should it be out in the air etc. I read something about celluloid blowup (so I'm a little paranoid at the moment)and this looks like it has those yellowish celluloid scales trying to look like ivory. Ps I have trumpet oil is that ok for blade protection ?I think it's similar to sewing machine oil.
Thanks brian

I have used carnuba wax in the past, but with that nice and valuable of a blade I wouldn't take any chances with an unknown, and get something specifically meant for razors..

Thanked: 0It is really muggy in Sydney at the moment. To give an Idea the portable airconditioner extracted about 6 litres, over 1.5 gallons of water from the air today.
I rinse and wipe my razors after each use, air dry then put away but with the hummidity I am finding little black dots on all of them but the wedge.
Sterol is definitely going to be on my shopping list to be used after I dry each razor.

I like sterol for short term storage but for long term I like No Rust sold by Russell knives. Its silicon based and will protect better than anything I 've yet found.
