Thanked: 44Don't give her the Ducks... She is gonna be using them and abusing them. You should get her a utilitarian razor, a starter strop, some cheaper shave creams that smell good and feel good or similar soaps so TGQ soap or cream would work well, a pure badger brush, a pasted strop, some classic aftershave like pinaud or aquavelva balm since it is cheap nand smells good, and some lessons. For now she should use a honemiester and the strops, later she will need to learn to hone.
Giving her the ducks would be a waste

+1 I couldn't agree more. It would be much more appreciated and well used. I would go for a lower end TI and preferable 1/2 hollow. This is a barbershop standard for rouged shop use. Give her the Duck for a later present once she learns about the cadillac's of tonsoral blades. MikeB

Unless she's going to be shaving her legs with the straight, I would avoid the duck all together- in the US I doubt there is place that will allow anything but disposable razors so the duck would be of little use.
A shavette would be most economical, but a Weck would be a good practice item that she should have already!
Personally, I think I'd like to see a barber with a Feather AC over a Shavette and that would be a better gift than the duck.
