Thread: Holy Japanese Straight Razor, Batman...

I received an Iwasaki straight from rasurpur the other day and finally had a chance to take it out for a test drive. In my eye, it was shave ready out of the box--it easily passed HHT and easily mowed down a patch of hair on my arm (anyone remember the Flymo. . . kind of like that). The handling of the razor was not as much of a challenge as I thought. With my left hand, I could hold it in my hand and shave normally. With my right hand, I found that if you hold it like a pencil (only backwards), it is rather easy to move around your face. The shave was first rate, BBS on my cheeks after the first pass. I did cut myself a few times trying to get some angles right and occasionally hitting the square point. All in all, it was a good time. If you have the chance, I recommend it highly.
