    Default Anyone knows this?

A friend of mine found two razors that once belonged to his great-grandfather.
The first one carries the brand Sendyk's Special - garanti Solingen. On the box: "Fr. Böhler, xxxxx(unreadable) et forge, Solingen". It came pretty rusty. 7/8" blade. He's trying to restore it. If anyone has more information about it, or possesses one just like it, please share.

The second one has a very odd handle. I've included a photo. The words "Silber Stahl" are etched on the blade. On the tang is stamped: feinster silberstahl - Solingen Guarantie. The handle comes with a kind of plastic sleeve, which makes the handle part of the box. I think it's some kind of travel razor. Anyone ever seen something like this?

    Thanks for your attention,
    Bart.

I agree - very interesting indeed. Thanks for showing us. (Oh, and I have never seen anything like it either).

I have a NOS Sendyk's Special that's about 40 years old. It's a 5/8 full hollow. I used it this morning and it gave me an outstanding BBS shave. My brother-in-law bought in New York and never used it.

The second razor certainly has a neat looking handle. I've seen similar appearing handles referred to as "gunstock scales", but I never saw the mating end or the razor "box". Great find!

    Default Travel razor

You were correct in your guess on that on it, is a travel razor, they pop up every now and then, last one I saw on E-bay I actually bid on because I wanted the beautiful etched blade, but I forgot to set a bid, and it got away... It does resemble a gun-stock razor but this one is actually designed just like a travel tooth brush to fit inside its own handle.....

oddly enough i have one similar to the travel razor pictured. my blade reads: "Our Best"

and the front of the tang reads: "Warrented Hollow Ground" the back "Made in Germany"

it has some pitting but is a pretty nice razor. "warrented" was quite apoplular word on 1920's era razors, IIRC.
    Be just and fear not.
