Thanked: 0New razor blade manufacturing methods!
Hi,
I am a freshman mechanical engineering technology student at Rochester Institute of Technology. My final project is to find an alternative manufacturing process to current razor blade manufacturing processes. However, I only have a rough knowledge about current maunfacturing methods. I know that they are made of stainless still stips by perforation followed by grounding and stroping.
I would be pleased to learn new websites, manufacturers, videos, pictures, any kind of information in completing my project.
Best Regards

In this thread (the first post) you can find a link to a video of Dovo's manufacturing process. Rasurpur sells a DVD about Thiers-Issard's manufacturing process. And I know there's a DVD of Mastro Livi making a straight, but I don't know where you could get your hands on it, perhaps directly though Livi's website.
Good luck.

Thanked: 1Stainless steel strips being perforated? Sounds more like multi-blade cartridge technology or DE blades/disposable blades than a straight to me.

Thanked: 0My co-owner used to work at Gillette (IT dept), and during one open house we went to tour the manufacturing line. The way they make all those cartridges is they make a 1/2" wide strip of metal, make one side sharp, then punch out the blades.
I believe (it was a long time ago) they said they also made coils of it for the military -- clipping it to make little tabs. Nasty stuff.

Thanked: 1587Well sure - I mean, if you didn't know what a straight razor was (not saying this guy is in that category, but just for the sake of argument), then "Straight Razor Place" could have lots of meanings...
eg a place where straight guys go to talk about razors....
