    Default "Shave-ready' is not quite...

I have a few razors that were initially thought to be 'shave-ready.' Although I am sure they are fine, these razors are not catching and popping off arm hair.

What do you suggest to bring these razors up to par? Here is a list of my equipment:

    0. Norton 1k stone
    1. Norton 4k/8k stone
    2. Norton lapping stone
    3. Chinese 12k
    4. 3-line Swaty
    5. Canvas/Leather strop

Personally I think a few strokes on the Swaty along with 50 strokes on the leather strop will be enough.

    What do you think?

I've always been a proponent on trying the least aggressive step first and moving from there.

I like the approach you have outlined.

You don't have any .5 paste?

From my perspective sometimes its better to back off a little on the sharpness when you hone for beginners so they don't blow the edge.

    Perhaps a conservative pyramid with
the Norton 4k/8k followed by the Chinese 12k
    would help.
