Default Instanter 7/8 with Ivory Scales

Do any of you have any info on this razor? This was originally a wedge, but was badly corroded,so it wound up cleaning up as a 1/4 hollow. It is shaped like razors made around 1820/30,with the wide tang, short monkey tails

I made these scales trying to get them to look like ivory, one side has scribing on the scale face, the other is plain.Id like to know if you like the scribing or plain better. If the scribbing gets the vote I will do both sides(more intricate),if nobody likes it Ill take it out ,and make both plain.I have a ColtSAA that has ivory grips with this black cracked look,so I thought Id try it on some razor scales

This is a great shaver by the way.The steel seems pretty hard when working/honing

    Best Regards Gary

    I like plain better.

The only thing I can add, information wise, is that it says 'patent temper' on the tang, which is also mentioned on the tang of my Joseph rodges which is from somewhere around 1820s.

If that was the catchphrase of the day, then it might be another indication that the razor is indeed from the time period you mention.

I like the plain better than the scribing as done. Maybe thicker scribing for more of a "picked" look?

I vote scribing. However, I think that it'd look better the entire length of the scale. Other than that, great looking razor.

    Sorry for the double post...

    Gary,
After looking at it again, I like it just the way it is with the scribing. I was originally thinking that it would look better if it was from the top down (above the pivot pin) however; it looks great just the way it is. I really like it!

    Gary,

Scribing if the razor stays in the company of the Colt; plain if the two will be separated.

    Nice work
