Default Student missing tip of thumb

Sadly, within two weeks of receiving my razor, and strop and all that, I have a ding in my razor, after making a fine slice off the tip of my thumb , during a Hanging Thumb Test AKA failed HHT. Although the razor passed the test, barely hurt me, just bled....but that's beside the point.

I would greatly appreciate any honemeister willing to help this sad student/newbie, to nurse my razor's blade back to health through anexpert honing.

Well, now you know at least one way NOT to do it!

Other than seeing a second bevel (left side of pic) I'm not seeing a ding or what I would call a ding at least. Care to give a road map?

Default left at the big ole tree

What I believe was the small ding I felt is towards the center of the pic, just right of center. I've send it off to Lynn, so I shall see what he says/sees.

That sure looks like it would respond to some stropping TLC... I would have given that 100 passes on leather strop, then 100 passes on newspaper, given it the wet thumbnail drag test, and depending on the smoothness of that, given it a shave. I bet that would have taken care of it.

Will be interesting to see what a honemeister will do to fix this one. Let us know what the fix ends up being!

Upon closer inspection, I appear to be wearing loafers... I mean, yeah, that bevel looks uneven, I am ammending my prediction to include a rehoning by the honemeister.

Ahh the old hanging thumb test. I can see it now. Curiosity sets in..."Lets see how sharp this thing really is" Pluck...Slice...Ding......Band aid. Tough break, I hope Lynn's diagnosis is promising. Keep after it.
