Thanked: 0Wapis are wedges?
So I noticed on the invisible edge website (here) that Wapienica razors are listed as full wedges and mirror polished.
Is this true? I have never considered the Wapi that I have to be a wedge, nor is it mirror polished.
So I was wondering if anyone could comment on this.
Thanks,
Ivan

I don't own one, I only honed one up for someone and I seem to remember thinking it might have been a 1/2 hollow. I don't recall thinking it was mirror polished.

Definitely not a wedge. I would agree with you on the 1/2 hollow range, Alan. (I own 5) and yes, they are mirror polished. Looking at any satin finish razor will immediately show the difference. Incidentally, I originally purchased 8. About half of them are very warped, one had part of the edge chip/flake off just by looking at it. I donated one of the non-warped ones unhoned to the SRP giveaway and..........I have yet to hone one of them to a truly shave ready edge. Personally I'm not really a fan of that razor; many have reported getting excellent results and consider it to be a fine razor so my experience clearly is not the rule and most likely is the exception.

Thanked: 0Thanks AFDavis,
So are wedges actual 'wedges'? A straight line from edge to spine?

Honestly, I'm not qualified to answer. I think there are a few that are true wedges. I think many have a slight hollow to them. I also think that there are many that use the "wedge" term loosely.
I found the Wapi pretty difficult to hone, relatively speaking.

Thanked: 4mirror? 600 grit with a polish maybe. Not mirror as we would define it.

The Wapis I've honed were a polished satin finish, and probably 1/4 hollow?
not wedges by any means.

Thanked: 0Thanks for all the replies guys!
Having only two razors at the moment I wasn't sure about the description given.
Chrisl, I have the same experience with mine. The edge is slightly warped, and although I can still shave with it, it doesn't take on an ideal edge.
