Newest antique shop finds
I don't care what you say, at $8 each, it's a deal. Could someone tell me what kind of scales are on these? The Wade and Butcher looks like shell or mother of pearl or something, and the KeenKutter looks like tortoise but it could be plastic. I know the W&B is missing part of a pin too, and I don't know where I can find replacements, since I'm a newbie.

Indeed....$8 is a good find.....the Wade & Butcher is most likely horn of some kind - many of them were. Wester made a great shaver. The Simmons Keen Kutter is probably faux tortoise but it looks nice! All three of those would make great additions to your weekly rotation - just need a little work! Great grab!!

The W&B is blond horn (I think it's also called honey horn). The Tortise one looks like faux (false) tortise. Might be celluloid. Great set of razors at a great price!
Those should clean up very well! As for the pin issues on the W&B, that's an easy fix.........

Thanked: 335crichton and C utz,
Are you sure about the blond horn? I would have sworn that it's Ivoresque Mother of Toilet Seat. If the Keen Kutter is real turtle, it's definitely a collector piece.

Bruce, the horn is definitely not man-made. Whether it's horn or something else, I'm not sure, but I know it's not any kind of plastic. I was hoping someone would confirm that the tortoise was real but it probably is plastic. Oh well. They will clean up nicely.
